I agree that the demand for pure & perfect leaders is profoundly counterproductive. We only feed that demand when we uncritically whitewash heroes of the past and present. Taking a more nuanced approach to historical figures— acknowledging both their virtues and flaws — can help us develop more realistic expectations for today’s leaders.
