Ancient Egypt/Northeast Africa was a true melting pot, making modern concepts of white & black anachronistic for most of Egypt's history, whether we're talking about commoners or royalty. Cleopatra's Ptolemaic dynasty was unusual; her ancestry evidently mostly Greek/Syrian/Persian.
